Can anyone help me with the idea of changing the carburetor or any other adjustment to turn my 2001 mercury 25hp 2stroke to 30hp? Or is it with this engine it will not be possible? Many thanks steve.

Not possible on your motor.
Oh, OK thank you, I glad I never started to buy anything. Are you familiar with the mariner 30hp 2stroke 2006, its the same weight, 2 cylinders, but 30hp? Not looking to change anything but ist it a noticeable difference in power? The reason I ask is I am18.5st and my brother is the same, to get the 3m rib to plane with a 25hp will be near impossible. Thanks steve.

There is no Mariner brand in 2006 unless it is an export. Your Motor is a Mercury built and designed and was never more than 25 hp. The 2006 Mercury 25 hp is a Tohatsu built engine and shares its block with the 30 hp motor. Supposedly the carb gasket is the only difference on the 2 Tohatsu models. Even if you had a Tohatsu motor 5 hp is not going to make much of a difference either way. The Merc 25 hp is a strong runner prop it correctly and it ,may do what you want.

Thank you again, I was going to spend £1500 on
This mariner, but will take your advise and go the prop route, if it doesn't work out I will move the rib on and go slightly bigger, with a 40/50 hp. Thank you for your valuable knowledge and time. Steve.
