2001 Merc 30 4 stroke

My 2001 mercury 30 4stroke will not turn up rpm. It bogs at 4k and will suck a tank of gas in no time at all. All 3 cyl are firing, and it accelerates smooth up to 4k when in the water. Out of the water it turns up about the same but backfires. Lots of gas spraying in the carbs, and lots coming out in a mist.

It's flooding. Bad needles/seats or just simply badly adjusted float levels. Do you know how to sort needles/seats and float levels?

It's been done over and over. One Merc dealer pulled the head checking valves, another replaced the exhaust, all with no change in results just in my wallet.

No serial # posted ?----That may well be a Yamaha built motor.------Perhaps a Yamaha dealer has better knowledge / mechanics.-----Does not sound difficult to fix.

The serial # is OT228947 it also says 30E 4STR
i don't know how to tell if it was built by Yamaha, but it's a great idea to look in that direction. I loved the way this motor performed prior to this, and appreciate your input.
