2001 Johnson evenrude 15 hp 4 stroke

Hello, I need help I have a 2001 evenrude 15 hp 4 stroke E15EVL4SI it's accelerator pump diaphragm is shot and the part is obsolete, I called local shops and BRP customer support no help there . I can't believe the engine is shot for an $18.00 part , can you bypass the pump ? Or any other ideas?

Sorry I can't seem to figure out how to do an attachment but it is part #28 on the exploded view (accelerator pump diaphragm)
