2001 J25VL3SIE 25hp 3 cyl

I own a number of these motors.-------------Every OMC / BRP dealer that I have talked with says----" take the oil injection off and throw it away as far as you can "-------The unit just is not reliable !!------Some other owners will say-----" Why, I have never had any trouble with it ".-------Throw the thing away !!!----Mix gas and oil at 50:1 on that fine motor.

As mentioned above, throw it away. I generally works when running, the biggest problem is when not running. It seems to have a bad habit of loading up the carbs with pure oil making start a hazzle after storage for some time.

So frustrated, I might throw the whole motor in trash. Got started in the morning came home after work no start. In the morning I drained carbs, gap plugs, new gas, started right up. This all started when I went out on river for 2 miles then it just shutdown completely. Your right after sitting it won,t start up like normal. I had since new and the last year or so its nothing but hassle.

Picked up 3 of those a while back from a lodge ( occasional rentals ) all 3 had oil tank removed already.---They are a great rugged motor with same main bearings on the crankshaft as a 70 HP motor.--------But as in any motor you need to learn how to maintain / operate the machine.

I would like to remove, just don't know how. Might take to shop. It has the warning system, can the mixing unit be taken off and still keep warning system for engine trouble?

Pretty simple to remove the tank.-----------Just requires a new piece of fuel hose from the fitting straight to the 2 fuel pumps.---Overheat system will still work.----Have you checked the wee recirc hoses near the powerpack assembly ? It is a good idea to replace them and make sure you do not pinch them when you reinstall the powerpack.------Have you removed the flywheel to carefully clean the optical ignition parts ?----What does a compression test show on this motor ?

When motor shutdown completely while running, could it been caused by to much oil put in carbs? It wiuld not start back up for nothing, got towed in. It did start 2 days later.

Looks like recic hosesare ok not pinched ( are they the skinny greenish hoses?) No flywheel was removed, and no compressing test. I know a little about motor , do basic maintenance, rest of work usually bu shop.

Just put new one on middle of last year, don't understand whats gone on. Take boat out weds runs fine for 30 minutes then shutsdown, not starting again. Starts up today afraid to take out. Does powerpack heat up, works does'nt work i'm confuesd of its operation!!

The powerpack gets a signal by breaking a light beam.-----------Now if a bug was crawling around up there ???-------Up to you to check thing out.
