2001 fitch 225hp

Im new to this forum but it seems to be a great source of info. I just purchased a 24 aquasport with a 225 fitch. im learning more and more on this motor and im finding that people love it or hate it. I recently had my fuel injectors rebuilt,and sent my computer to DFI in alabama ( Great service i might add) & the engine is now running great and the fuel econ. is awsome. Im just having a hard time starting. sometimes it will start in 2 attempts and others 6 or 7. Plugs are set to 28. could that be the ploblem or is there a trick to starting these engines. Any advise would be great.

Pump up the fuel bulb, get it hard, turn and push in the key at same time, motor should fire off.
if not give it a little idle gas.

Thank you, that is how i do it. Should I choke it every time ? If the engine has off for a couple of hours should I need to choke it?

pump up ball. Turn key.

Since it's controlled by the computer, I don't think pushing in the key does anything. Fast idle for warm up is controlled by the computer as well. It should be just like starting a modern car, except for pumping up the bulb first.

you guys are right, I am so use to working on the older models I forget about the new ones. no choke on a fitch.

there has never been,an engine,named 'fitch'........it is...a FICHT'...fuel injected engine,.....of which i have loveingly called them,..the f --- fichts.....due to millions of problems........

Ficht means.....f....ing, injection, can, have, troubles. BUT, not all fichts had probs. There are still a lot of them out there that are still running great. It was mainly the early ones that gave all the probs so everybody thinks they are all bad. I'm talking about '97,'98 models.

I just read this whole thing again. You mentioned something about new plugs set at .028. Question, were the plugs "Indexed" when they were put in ?
