2001 Ficht ... Key Ignition Problem

I have a 2001 Evinrude Ficht 150hp Outboard ... ser # G04959234 E150FBISIG ..... when I turn the key to start ... there would be nothing ... wait 10 minutes and it would start ... THEN it quit starting all together ... I traced it back to the key starter ... replaced it ... and it started just fine about 15 times ... then nothing again .... won't start when I turn the key ... am I burning out the key switch some how ? If not , what's the problem ... I am stumped ...


2 Days Later ...........

The motor sat for 2 days without turning over when I turned the key ... today I tried it .... turned right over when I hit the key ???? But for how long ? ... I don't trust it ... got to be a problem here ???? HELP !!!

Check all battery and ground connections. Remove, clean and re-tighten.

Get your multimeter as well as a wiring diagram and start measuring.

Been done already ... when key quits ... all other still works ... Engine peeps and trim works ... just won't turn over when key is turned ...

Did you ever figure out what the problem was? I am having a similar problem with my 2000 Evinrude 150 Ficht.
