2001 evinrude ficht

just had a reputable boat yard install a 2001 evinrude 250 ram ficht...past 2 weeks it ran great....we just replaced the trim motor which they paid for and took boat for a ride......was running fine.....all of a sudden ck engine alarm went off and motor shut off.....would not restart......turned over slow but if i jump the solenoid it turns over fine but won start.....i have seen posts before about issues with the computor.....does this sound like a computor issue?
 
......If its a low voltage condition, what could be some causes. When i called the boat yard he told me to ck the relays on back of motor.....batteries are new......it does crank over slow w key but if i jump the start relay it cranks normal......thanks for the reply.
 
When you key 'on' do you hear the fuel pump run? If not then your EMM is not powering up...most likely, unless the pump is bad. The EMM (computer) handles the starting. It won't start until it sees a minimum amount of RPM, the CPS synchs, the TPS is in range, has fuel pressure and the injectors have enough juice to run them. Any one of those could be out of whack. It would be cheaper to take it to a reliable shop and see what is happening, rather than buy the kit needed and stumbling through it.

A "reliable" boat yard? I would never ask my customer to check the relays on an engine I just sold him. I may be off the mark here, but it sounds as if they just sold you this engine.
