"I just purchased a 2001 40 HP mercury and the motor keeps stalling at idle, and the primer bulb hard. It takes about 10-12 times before I can drive it. Once we stopped and fish for couple of hours, it did the same thing but only about 4-5 times, then the last time I tried to start it, it did the same for about 8-10 times. It was pretty frustrating. I'm going to change the plugs, fuel filter - but the owber said this has happened since the purchase the motor new in 2001 - Any advise?"
