"I have a 2001 3.0L merc with alpha one outdrive. My question to you al is where does the exhaust come out, I thought it would be at the prop.

Let me know"

The main flow exits at the pro

The main flow exits at the prop thru the center.
A small amount exits two openings in the lower transom assembly.
What makes you think its elsewhere?

The reason i ask is when I win

The reason i ask is when I winterized my boat most of the antifreeze was coming out the two openings in the lower transom and only a little on the prop??? What does this mean for the witerization. Should it had been dumping a ton of Antifreeze out the prop and not the two openings.

Let me know

No.
The exhaust downpipe inside the boat is baffled to separate most of the coolant and direct it to the two transom outlets.
The trickle you see coming out the exhaust is from a small weep hole in the bottom of the water pump case.
It sounds like what you saw was exactly right.

One last question....

One last question....

Should I open the single point drain which comes on the 3.0l merc's or should i leave it closed since it is full of Antifreeze and should I store the boat with the trim up or down?

Thanks for you feed back

No I just ran 3 gallons of AF

No I just ran 3 gallons of AF through so what ever was left in there is now diluted. But should I just open it anyways and let the AF come out??

"Since you live in Ontario, Canada, it may reduce the chance of an undiluted pocket of water in the engine or manifold from freezing. Just my unscientific opinion. What do the other Canada boys have to say?

P.S. SW Ohio has 20 deg. F. (-6.7 deg. C.)predicted for next week. Bad for boating but perfect for deer hunting."

Ayuh,....

My WAGuess is,...
It's been run without water at some point,..
The Exhaust Flapper Valve burnt up,+ part or all of it is lodged in the lower exhaust cavity of the gimbel housing,...
Just a WAGuess though...

You should drain the motor,..
Then run the antifreeze, if that's what you want to do....

I drain My driveline Dry,...
And store with the drive Down, or removed....

In your case,.. I'd drain it....

Air just Don't Freeze..."
