2001 3.0 Mercruiser

My 2001 3.0 Mercruiser will run with muffs for about 20 minutes. Turn off try to start it won't start.
Carb was recently rebuilt, new starter, steering cables.
When I start it, it putters and idle rough give it gad it runs smooth. Turn it off and nothing.....
Any ideas? I was thinking maybe the slave solenoid??

When you shut the motor off when hot off, was the choke wide open? I suspect it was not adjusted properly and did not open fully. Also, the idle mixture screws need to be adjusted.

I will try adjusting the idle screw. The choke was open when it got hot.
