"Hello all. I hope you can help me. I have a 2001 200 EFI merc. It will idle at start up and run up to 2500rpm in gear. Then it will start missing then stall. After that it will only get 2000rpm the 1500 so on and so on. It will even be hard to start after a few trys. Then it will run at 1000 rpm (but no more)untill I can get to the dock.
I have checked : I've used remote fuel
remote key switch
fuel psi is 32 constant(in spec)
all C.D.Ms are good
stator is good
spark will jump a 3/8s gap
trigger is good
disconnected knock modual
disconnected warning modual
checked V.S.T over flow
swopped E.C.U with one from
mercury marine (on lone)
Changed spark plugs . On the last run today I pulled the plugs again and this time the top cylinder 1&2 Were very dark and the rest are light broun.
Also the DDT showes no code and
all sensers are working within spec . ( eg. TPS, Injector timming, Knock ect.... )

This model uses a trigger. I think the next model year has a crank sensor.

I would suspect the stator. I would not rule it out unless you have done an output test with the engine running at speed.

The stator did pass a resistance test. But I think you have a point. I'll buy the test harness and check it anyway.
