"My 2001 Mercury Saltwater series 150 overheats when running 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. It will run wide open around 210 degrees, but no warning horn. Horn sounds around 220. I have changed the water pump, the 2 thermostats, the poppit valve. I have flushed the system with Lime away thru a inline flush, I have flushed with Salt Water Terminator. All lines have been blown thru. It seems as though it gets enought water as the tattle tale's flow is strong. My next step would be pulling the heads to rod out. Can I get by reusing the head gaskets or should I get new ones before I start ? Anything else I'm forgetting. Engine is running strong, no missing no detination, plugs all look as if they are running cool and soot free. I'm looking for any clues, last bit of hair leaving my head as I try to figure this one out."
