"I recently removed, disassemb

"I recently removed, disassembled, and reassembled my lower unit because I had contaminated gear oil. I'm having trouble getting the shift rod back to the correct height. The Seloc manual says either 26 1/4 or 26 3/4. Tried both because the book wasn't clear on which model. Right now, everything operates but i can't shift out of forward. Is there something special I need to do to realign the shift rod with the linkage?"
