What is the correct starting procedure for this engine cold please, as amazingly the Yamaha manual only states what control throttle postions for when the engine is warm.

The reason I ask is that the engine is difficult to start cold despite trying different combinations of throttle postions and I want to check I am not doing something blatantly wrong ?

I believe there is probably a problem with the electric coil autochoke mechanism not working properly, any comments on how this system is supposed to work correctly are appreciated."

i crank mine for like 5 seconds then wait
usually after the first crank she starts up

what position should the throttle / fast idle be in when starting from cold ?

Should it be fully down and just rely on the auto electric choke to start the engine ?

Or should you open up the throttle / fast idle at all ?
 
Yes there is a fast idle / war

Yes there is a fast idle / warm up lever.

So do you suggest I try starting it with the lever fully down and as it fires pick up the revs until it has warmed up ?
