This engine is new to me but in its first off season before ever using it I did the basics....lower unit....plugs....fuel filter.....fresh oil and gas.....carb clean.....etc...just the basics.
So restored the boat...dropper her in the water...go to start the beast by raising throttle advance a bit and turning the key....I get zero....and almost zero...I could faintly hear the engine getting some juice. The battery is freshly charged. I didnt even know it had a push key choke I figured that out next trip
......anyway I lower the lever and the engine turns over. Now I had multiple issues so I dont want to confuse whoever might try to help me....so try to follow along. It appeared as if the throttle advance was shorting out the crank power. In the end I had to switch to combined batts to get her to turn over correctly......I attempted about 8 to 10 times before pushing in the damn choke and she fired up.
Next trip......I didnt touch the throttle advance lever.....I just pushed in the key choke and turned the key she fired right up! How can the throttle advance be shorting out my juice?
Note on trip one she sat for 5 weeks before attempting to start with hot fresh battery
Note on my successful easy start up she only sat for 4 days
Could it be a TPS? Throttle Position Sensor?
Or maybe the previous owner doesnt even have the throttle advance hooked up?
I have no frickin idea......
