I have a 2000 75HP Mercury 4 s

I have a 2000 75HP Mercury 4 stroke that the local marine dealer cannot seem to repair. I am getting moisture in the crankcase and they have replaced the adaptor plate gaskets twice and now they have machined the adaptor plate surfaces and replaced the water tube seal. They have also replaced the head gasket but the problem persists. I am looking for any suggestions as to what you think the problem might be. Mercury insists that it is not a cracked block nor a cracked head.

I believe Honda had a similar

I believe Honda had a similar problem on some models - was caused by a crack in the exhaust.

4 stokes are pretty "new" to most of us here and haven't seen alot of the quirks/issues arise yet....

"are you seeing raw water when

"are you seeing raw water when you drain the oil and how much overfull is the crankcase getting.some water in the crank case is normal under cold water or slow speed use.the crankcase beiing partialy submerged in the water has a hard time getting hot enough to burn out the moisture that naturally forms in all engines,a faulty thermostat can also cause it"

When I drain the crankcase oil

When I drain the crankcase oil I have about a cup of raw water. Since the last repair I have not run the motor personally but have had a marine dealer tell me that the oil got milky. When I checked the oil a day later it was crystal clear.
