Hey guys I was on the lake this weekend and boat run fine at first. I went to take off after fishing the 10th spot of the day and my boat (TR21 2000 Mercury 225 EFI) would not plane out. Boat would idle fine and rev ok but would not come out of the hole on plane. My partner was able to stand on the front deck to get the boat to plane out I was still 10 MPH slower trimedout. I replaced fuel filters, waterpump, foot oil and plugs this year. I pulled the hood off today and checked to see if I was getting spark on all cyinders. I found I was getting spark on all cylinders but 1. I switched the coil pack with one that was getting spark and still no spark I used the wiring plug from the below cylinder and I was able to get spark. So I assume it in the wiring on cylinder 1. I checked the plug with a tester and found no volts on one wire. I traced the wire to a plug under the fly wheel. The matching wire on the plug also reads no volts when cranking. I looked at my mercury book and the plug goes to the stator. Could something besides the stator cause this? Is the stator something a shade tree mechanic can change?
