"I have a 150 mercury saltwate

"I have a 150 mercury saltwater series, 2000 year. The engine wasn't used last summer so it has been sitting around for a while now. I changed the plugs, some lines, and did all the normal maintenance, but I cant get the thing started. I had it going for a little while but once I shut it down I couldn't get it going again.

The gas was treated when it was stored, but that was prob 15 months ago. The fuel lines are good, the spark plugs are good, but I just cant get it going.

The carburetor was leaking oil/gas into the airbox when I checked after trying to start it, I wasn't sure if this was from it being flooded or another problem.

The engine seems like it wants to start, and almost has a few times, but I just cant get it going. Does it sound like a car problem, maybe they are clogged? could it be bad gas?

Any help would be much appreciated"

"Treated gas or not, if it was

"Treated gas or not, if it was not removed from the carbs it will foul up the jets. These later 150's also do not like old gas. They do become hard to start."

"So do you think it's best

"So do you think it's best to empty the tank completely when I have the carbs cleaned? There is prob 15-20 gallons in there, so you recommend and additives to the gas to prevent this from reoccurring? Thanks for your help."
