2000 Merc 50 four stroke idling too high

"When ever I start the motor,

"When ever I start the motor, after about 5 minutes, when the motor gets warm, it starts to idle high, around 3000rpms. The motor runs fine, except trolling is a little faster and when It is not in gear it revs high 3000rpm. Is there a fuse somewhere that control the idle? Computer related? Thanks."

If the throttle cable adjustment does not solve the problem, you may have a fuel supply problem. Often, when an engine begins to run too lean, it will begin to rev higher.

"The engine is Carb. I will check my fuel filter and try cleaning my plugs. I'll check the fuel and make sure it is good, may have too try new fuel. Thanks for the help. I'll check everything again."

It sounds like you need to balance the carbies, adjust the mixtures (you may need to drill out the blanking plugs to access the mixture screws) and reset ur idle speed, if you don’t have access to a good set of vacuum gauges then you cannot balance your carbs. You may also want to check that ur choke is coming off when the engine has warmed up, resetting the choke and associated linkages is quite a complex task and probably beyond a forum, a good technician should be able to sort ur problem in 1-2 hrs so it shouldn’t cost all that much, if you leave it idling high ur sure to damage ur gearbox which will cost you.
