2000 merc 115hp 2 stroke water problem

I have a 2000 merc 115hp 2 stroke serial #0T052349 was preparing to start for first time this season and found water in the air silencer box. Started motor and warmed up when I shut it down I noticed water seaping out of carbs. I was stored boat and motor same way for years.

Engine mounted Oil tank may be full of water. DO NOT RUN THE ENGINE UNTIL YOU INSPECT THIS!!!!!

It didn't appear to be full of water. I will double check it out and probably drain and refill with new oil. It was only about a qt low. The water stream was good out of pee hole. Pulled plugs and cranked over didn't seem too have any water in cylinder.

Just added 17 gallons to top off tank from November last year always with stabil additvie

Is the motor stored by wrapping it up with plastic .-------No ventilation ?

what if water was already in airbox and powerhead or heat exchanger did not drain completely.
