"I currently am experiencing problems with outboard not dropping bendix out of flywheel. The dealer claims everything elec. is o.k., but the flywheel is out of round causing the problem. They want to install new flywheel at a cost of 600.00 plus labor. No warranty due to OMC selling. Have you ever heard of this or anything else possible."

Sounds like BS to me. See what the others say. Most of the reports on this problem call for the drive to be cleaned and lightly greased.

Keep the flywheel, check the starter pinion and shaft (lubricate with moly lube) CHANGE THE MECHANIC!"

"I find this hard to believe also. I would love to put a dial indicator on that wheel much like checking caliper run out on auto brakes. If you have a friend with access to an indicator set up, pull the plugs and spin the flywheel by hand and let the group know what the run out is. If it worked for the last five or six years any run out is minimal at best."

this motor is six years old and all of a sudden it has an out of round flywheel?????????
I have an 1985 Force 85 and if I was experiencing your symptoms, Id be cleaning the drive and checking the solenoid.
If this was happening on your family car, i doubt if a mechanic would tell you that the flywheel was out of round--
no matter what you choose to do, I'd find a different service facility."
