ok so ive ordered a manual and followed it step by step doing the link and sync to factory specs. it starts and runs great but just wont idle going between gears it just keeps dying. it acts like it needs idled up on the low end. the thing is last year a mechanic replaced the timer base cause it was having no spark issues. and ever since I got it back its been doing this. could it be something to do with the timing or would it be fuel related

I put everything back to factory spec according to the manual. engine idles great in neutral will idle all day long. when switching to forward at very low idle like coming in to load boat it dies. The only thing i have found is a cracked plug wire on the top cylinder. could this be the cause or is it fuel related

You have to set your idle speed in the water and your motor needs to be warm and in gear for that. To set it on muffs set the idle in neutral to about 1000-1100 rpm then fine tune on the lake. I believe your idle screw is under the flywheel.

Ive replaced all plug wires taken everything to factory spec. Im ordering a timing light and going to set my timing to spec. I took it to the river friday night and it starts and runs great. Except if im going along quarter to half throttle it bogs down and dies. I have to give it a minute choke it then it will start. im also ordering carb kits and rebuilding them. could it be my fuel pump trying to go out or the carbs needing rebuilt. also when going to load it it will not stay running in forward gear at low idle. which makes it a little tricky to load
