Hi all i cant get my emergency trim tilt release valve undone?

Any tips on how to get this undone- Note i'm worried the slotted screw will strip as it has started to. I have tried some light impact, WD40 and it wont budge at all!

How does one replace the valve?

Note- I am needing to get it undone as i am replacing the trim seal's on the ram's.

I retired in 1991 so I'm not familiar with what the design of your PTT unit might be, however if it's still identical to what I'm accustomed to, read on... and if not... no harm done.

I assume the engine is in the down position and you need to manually lift it in order to remove the trim caps?
If so, the following may be of use to you.

A little tapping with a hand held impact screwdriver would be my choice of tools. However if that does nothing but spread and ruin the slot of the manual relief valve... you're left with removing the unit and contacting a machine shop.

If you manage to break it loose and it's unscrewing... STOP! Look in that hole to see if the "Snap Ring" retainer is still sitting in its slot, and if it is, and you're determined to remove that relief valve... get that snap ring out of the way first as it will destroy the valve sealing "O" Ring.

FYI... Normally the valve needs to be turned out only 2 turns (No more) for the engine to be manually moved up/down.
