2000 Johnson 25hp jet cold natured

I just bought a jet boat after going 10-12 years without one. The motor is a 2000 Johnson 25hp 3 cylinder. Took it fishing Saturday and had to choke it almost every time I started it, even after I just shut if down. Anyone know what might be going on? Other than that it ran good but seemed like it could have had a little more power.

I don't have a compression gauge but maybe I can borrow one. I didn't feel the head for heat. I felt the water coming out and it wasn't warm. Do these have a thermostat?? We had a lot of weight in the boat and it wasn't planing out good so we had it under a pretty good load. That's why I was feeling the water. I live a ways from the water but tonight I'm putting the jet in a tub to run it and I'll check the temp. Thanks for helping. I'm excited about being back on the rivers in something besides a canoe or my little 14 prop boat.

Found the problem. I cleaned the jets on all three carbs. Didn't help. Paid $30 for an online manual, checked out how to adjust the idle jets and they were turned in probably 5 full turns too much. They are pretty close to right now and it's running good in a tub. Taking it to the river in a little bit and hopefully it's got full power. Thanks for the suggestions.
