primer ball colapses when under way and stalls engine cleaned intake and put new ball and hose. loosen gas cap and it runs much better. any ideas on how or what causes this?

Check your tank vent, sounds like it might be plugged and the fuel pump is sucking a vacume.

Yes I did that. Seemed clear blow through hose conected to gas tank and it seem ed clear.

After the ball collapses, open the gas cap and listen for a "woosh" sound. If heard, your vent is plugged as daviet suggests.

Changed primer ball engine works fine no stall and ball does not flaten.
