"225 jhns,sat 4 2years.put portable 50/1 mix on,disconnected vro,changed plugs. runs rough at idle,sneezes. stab throttle she runs like a raped ape for 10-20 sec then boggs down.bring it back to idle 4 few seconds and jumps right back on plane. 5400 wot.pulled plugs and they look ok but are little wet. any thoughts?.. also volt gauge rises from 11-12 to almost 16 as u increase rpms. ps learnin sum good stuff here! thx"

Wet plugs and sneezes = runs lean.
Time for a carb clean/rebuild. Just to be expected after 4 yrs of storage. Be sure You have ALL gaskets at hand before You start. The 'O' rings between carb body and throttle housing normally are impossible to re-use. Take special care of the low and intermediate channels in the throttle bodies.

"its got 6 carbs,looks like 2 each mounted on metal spacer.does that spacer(Housing) have to come off? can see a gasket where it meets the intake.have done rebuilds (carbs)on older v6S....these any tougher? also,had alrm goin off wen disconnected vro but unplugged the harness goin into vro face.solved the horn.checkd overheat alarm by grounding it and its ok.(found info on here.thx) jwmarine..pump kit 4 carbs or water pmp kit? gonna do water pump today."

do i soak them in car cleaner

do i soak them in car cleaner can just like older carbs?(these are plastic) just remove all jets/floats and soak?
 
The low and intermediate chann

The low and intermediate channels are in the throttle body. The plastic carbs are mainly float bowl and main jets. Without cleaning the throttle bodies the job is wasted.

"cleaned all 6 carbs.not any slime/debris.number 5 had a little debris but alls good now.took it out 4 test.20 min idle speed zone,just about to floor it and alarm goes off! vro disconnected,6gal premix directly to fuel pump,not overheating,vro harness plug disconnected,oil tank wires cut,what is alarm?its about 3 seconds at idle and increases with rpms.???? i know its not overheating and its got premix so i run it anyway..jumps on plane great 5500rpm 5 sec later boggs out same as before.idle back down 4 few seconds and runs jumps back up runnin great. im lost...."

"fuel rstriction ..a definate possibility..make sure u have no loose 'disc wires' grounding causing a false horn,..but,w/your bogging and a horn...i would go back to fuel restriction,not carbs....clogged filter,tank prob's,fuel line clogged..etc..a clogged carb will not,set off fuel restriction,but it was good to clean them since it is bogging...u need to be using 3/8 fuel lines,..even for testing an eng that big.u can inst a vacuum gauge in line to furthur verify a poss fuel restriction."

vacuum restrict----at no time should exceed 4" of mercury at any time...a service manual would be highly recommended to proceed furthur.

"ran it just now...alarms still goin off,runs rough till about 15 to 1800 then cleared out and ran 2 miles wide open 5300!didnt bogg at full speed this time so were gettn close!one thing jw,on the way out had the front airbox cover off w carbs exposed and choked each one off w my palm.a-lot of fuel poured in FAST and bogged that cyl down.just seemed like alot of fuel that quick to me.how are these guys on fuel consumption?thanks 4 ur help man,greatly appreciated! dennis"

"thats it.......those carbs,will flood,....easily,doing what you r doing w/your hand,....i do it.....go slow when doing that....to find the prob.also,...the cover--air box....needs to be on a looper for it to run right......ok...alarm......here ya go......u either have a fuel restriction,overheat problem....since u r getting a horn,and boggs,..i would trust that item.....use another tank..w/3/8 lines......make SURE this eng is not overheating!!!!!!!"

"found the problem..fuel line(grey plastic type)between ball and motor had orange colored plastic blockin 3 inches of it!(right at bend where goes thru engine cowling)repaced and runs much better,but now its suckin ball closed?!p.s. im now running off 160gal main tank. system setup is 8 ft fuel line from tank to racor,8 ft to ball primer,then 4 ft to engine.all new lines,filters and clean pickup in tank...do i need the ball and if so where should it be...before racor or after?"

"if the ball is sucking closed,u still have a fuel restriction or bad bulb...ck the anti syphon valve in tank outlet,and screen in tank if there...verify all clear...if prob persists,..chg all fuel lines and bulb to BRP 3/8."
