Asking for advice or help
2000 Johnson 175 J175PLSSC, I have low vltage coming out of Stator. One side is 96.5v and the other is 115.6v. Now i realize that the CDI requires 150v+ to fire. My ohms are reading in the correct range on the stator at 515. This is where I am confused. Ohms are correct but voltage is low. -----Specifics on the motor. It had sat unused at a dealership for 2 years. When I brought it home I was able to get it running, even took it out for a ride. After about an hour of riding, would not crank again. No spark and weak spark. I have replaced the CDI. Question is, how can the ohms be correct but voltage incorrect? Do I need to completely replace the stator or just clean up flywheel and stator? Also, upon removing the flywheel I noticed that the stator must have gotten overheated as a lot of the wax type coating seemed to have melted off and was puddled in the stator bay. There also seems to be a light coating on the stator faces, can this be removed to create a better reaction to the magnets? Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
