2000 Johnson 130 hp diode kit

subject motor: 2000 Johnson 130
At cold start motor cranks fine but does not seem to fire. If I disconnect keyswitch wiring harness at 6 pin connector inside cowling and "jump" motor at starter solenoid motor starts immediately. I can then reconnect wiring harness and keyswitch works fine. For the next two or three days keyswitch continues to work normally. After that I must "jump" motor at solenoid again. I have cleaned all connections with Corrosion Block and replaced keyswitch. I have also run all new wires from 6 pin connector at motor to keyswitch. I am now waiting 4 days to test. Since running new wires I have lost tach and all gauges at dash. Researching Johnson wiring I noticed a diode kit in the ignition wiring. Any suggestions on why I have lost my gauges ( did I miss a wire or does power for the gauges split off the hot wire some where) and if the diodes in the ignition could have anything to do with my starting issues?

Thanks for the reply. Boat belongs to neighbor, trying to help him out. I am much more familiar with my Merc 225. Regained gauges by splicing off of ignition wire (purple). Motor seems to be operating normally now. I looked at previous posts mentioning a blocking diode. What does it do and have I now bypassed it by running new wires? If bypassed, is this OK?
