I'm installing new kits and I noticed the old brass needle & seat did not have the nylon gasket on the seat when i removed it. When I installed the new seat w/gasket the float stuck up so much that I would have to bend it a lot to make it level. My question is do you use the gasket on the seat with this carburetor? Did all the carbs not have nylon gasket?Have you had this engine for a while, and was it running good in the past?If it was running good in the past I would put it back just the way it was!!Carb kits come sometimes with extra parts and gaskets, because that kit covers several different carbs.I personally have never seen a seat without the gasket under it.Go to johnson.com and look at the blow up of your carbs and see what that tells you.

Thanks, I looked at the diagram and sure enough it does not show a gasket. I've rebuilt hundreds of OMC carbs over the years, but not since 1996. Looks like that's when they quit using the gasket under the seat on the 60 degree V engines.
