"Recently purchased a used 200

"Recently purchased a used 2000 Honda 115 four stroke and in my first 2 trips onto the water I have had the same re accruing problem. When I start after unloading I go for a quick cruise as the trailer is moved to the parking area. Both trips on this initial warm up drive I get a beeping alarm, the temperature gauge is maxed out and the engine shuts down. I turn everything off. The engine is cool to the touch so I re-start. The temperature gauge now is too low for the gauge to register and even after extended running times (15-20 min) flat out, the temperature on the gauge does not increase. The engine then performs excellent for the rest of the day as I constantly check the engine manually for signs of overheating. I also notice that there is no visible cooling water discharge coming from the motor; is this normal for this engine? Does anyone have any ideas about what is causing the emergency shut down? The previous owner never experienced this problem and at the end of last season he had the water pump impeller replaced, though he didn’t have it in the water after the repairs.

Thanks."

"i agree with the bad temp sen

"i agree with the bad temp sendor comment, that was my guess too. but as for the pee hole, it must be under water or really small because i, and several others have checked vigorously to find it."
