I have a 2000 evinrude fitch i

I have a 2000 evinrude fitch injection 225hp outboard. It turns over but will start only intermittently. I have had the moter to 2 different marine repair shops and no one can find the problem. Has anyone got any ideas or had this problem?}}

"Do a drop-voltage check when cranking. If ECM voltage drops below 11 Volts, You may be in 'trouble'. It might be a discharge problem with Your batteries, or a bad ground/positive connection. Measure at battery, B+ at engine and at ECM."

Unfourtunatly that is a classic symptom of a Ficht ECM failure. Especially if it starts fine once warm.

The circuit boards were built too thin as a cost saving measure. The boards flex from the vibration, and eventually the copper traces crack. If you manage to get it started, the heat from the ignition and injector drivers expands the traces enough to ensure contact until the board cools off again.

One good resource for Ficht is http://www.dfitechnologies.com/ If I'm not mistaken, this outfit was founded by a bunch of the OMC engineers that designed the Ficht system, but lost their jobs after the bankruptcy.
