2000 Evinrude 4 stroke control module

After some trial and error to fix a 9.9hp that just stopped and not restart, then start and run for a while and quit, then not restart or start and quit, even after replacing the coil, the control module has a photo cell(think garage door opener safety eye) that triggers the spark. After 25 years, mine became a little too dirty to make a connection so replacement fixed it. But I do believe wiping off the little photo cell lenses would have fixed it. To get the control module out, after removing the obvious bolts, slowly rotate the flywheel with the manual pull starter until a notch in the cup under the flywheel lines up with the tabs on the back of the control module allowing it to be removed.
