Hi.
A few weeks ago I took my 2000 Four Winns Horizon 170 out for a final run before putting it up for sale. It has an Evinrude 115 Ficht outboard. As luck would have it the "Chk Eng" alarm and light came on. That's the first time that has happened. Now I feel I need to fix the issue before selling. My local marina was able to read the EMM code after I was able to reproduce the issue. The error message reads "Cylinder/ignition firing circuit. Cylinder 2. Primary circuit. Open circuit. (CODE:82)". They suspect the ignition coil. I'm looking here for confirmation that it is the likely issue. I plan to change the coil myself as they haven't managed to get it back in to change the coil because they're too busy.
Thanks for any replies.
