"I'm absolutley desperate for help here. I haven't been able to run my boat for over 2 years due to this problem.

Motor runs fine/smooth in the driveway. But, when I put it in the water, idols fine but shakes and will not pick up speed when I accelerate. Feels like I'm losing a cylinder.

Spent $1200 at the shop to get the carbs re-built, impeller changed, oil/spark plug change. And nothing changed! Shop said to change the prop so I did, and nothing changed.

I've since changed both coils. And nothing changed.

Anyone have any other ideas/experience. Everything is appreciated. Thanks!"

"Forgot to mention that the shop said they dyno'd it and everything came out fine. They basically said sorry you're still having the problem, but it needed everything we did, so thanks for the $$$!"

was there ever a compression test done on this motor and how many cylinders does it have ?. also when you run it on land are you putting on a water cuff?

"Yes, compression was fine. 4 cylinders. Always with the dog ears on in the driveway. Thanks."

"Here's my shot(s) in the dark:

1. Your fuel tank isn't vented properly--air can't get in, so the gas can't bet out, resulting in a lean condition. Try running with the fill cap off and see if that helps.

2. You've got water in your gas tank. Install (if you don't have one) a water separator. If you do have one, service it and try some new, fresh gas. The boat's been sitting in there for, what, two years? Ethanol gas goes to hell in 6 months without a stabilizer.

Thanks Jeff! The tank was emptied when it went to the shop and came back doing the same thing. It is also empty now.

I'll add some fuel and try running it without the cap.
