2000 5.0 L mercruiser power loss

I have a 2000 Mercruiser 5.0 EFI (throttle body injection) that I have been having problems with lately. It appears to be a fuel management problem as the injectors seem to be visibly spraying an inordinate amount of fuel into the throttle body (much more than usual). On my last trip the Floscan indicated about a 50% increase in fuel consumption from previously at the same RPM and a noticeable decrease in power. The boat starts up fine from a cold start, but once it gets warmed up, and I try to restart it, I have to put it into neutral and advance the throttle(which allows more air into the throttle body by opening the butterfly valves) to get it to start. Has anyone had any similar problems or have any idea why this is happening? any help would be appreciated.

Re: 5.0 mercruiser power loss

I have never worked or have info on this engine in your boat. with auto engines the ECT eng coolant temp sensor reports to the pcm/computer what the eng temp is . this then determines the metered fuel delivered to the cylinders. cold engine more fuel. hot engine less. check for proper sensor resistance cold / hot . check the connections for damage/corrosion. this is very common with auto engines..
