2000 25 HP sputters on takeoff

Good day. I have a Evinrude 25 HP 3 cylinder, bought around year 2000, that gets little use. It starts and runs fine. The trouble is when you crack it wide open for a fast take off ( Kids Water sking or just a standing start). It sputters for 5 or 6 seconds before coming around. What do you suggest?

seems like there is a fuel restriction for that amount of time therefor i would clean the carbs and see how that works.

sounds like dirty carbs, clean the carbs and reset the idle, remember the hole shot is from the low speed setting on the carbs.

to reset the carb bring the screws in so they just touch (do not turn tight or you will/can brake the needle on the end) then take them back out 1 1/2 turns and make adjustments from there

Thanks, Can you suggest a gass additive, or remove them and soak.

just tear them down and have a spray bottle of carb cleaner and spray it through all the openings to make sure they are all clear of dirt and crud. easiest and quickest this way you know it is all cleaned
