2000 125 ELPTO struggling...

I bought a Bayliner Capri 1800 with a 125 ELPTO 2+2 this summer. I have taken it out quite a few times now and just now started to notice the issue. It will only rev up to about 4200 RPMs and run at about 35 MPH. When i go WOT it hesitates big times, you can hear and feel it skipping/trying to pull the power but it just cant. It has a 21P prop on it. I have put new spark plugs and fresh gas with additive and still nothing. Any suggestions or recommendations would be much appreciated. I understand the way that the 2+2 feature works and it has no issues kicking into 3/4 cylinders. Compression is at 95psi on all 4 cylinders. Not sure where to go from here. Im not all that great with boats/motors, but am def a DIY type. Thank you in advance for any help.

My 02 had a similar problem, had a bad ignition module on one cylinder. 100$ and good as new

Is there anyway to test for that? I sure hope it's as easy of a problem as that. I would assume it would be one of the bottom two Cylinders considering that it acts up at wot. When it happened to you, were you not getting max speed and rpms as well?

Correct, could not achieve the spec wot rpm and obvious power loss. You can buy a simple clamp on spark test from parts store and may benefit from finding a thread on here that explains how to do it properly since you are looking for the problem on one of the 2 "variable" cyclinders. I took mine to mechanic because I had to get something else looked at. It fixed mine right up.

Thank you! When you say ignition module, are you talking about the coil pack or something else?

yea, I called it a coil pack until the mechanic called it an ignition control module... apparently that's the correct jargon haha. you know what i'm talking about.
