"After running at full throttle for about 1-2 minutes my '06 200 Opti will cut out and start to stall. Acts like it's up against a rev limiter but I'm only running 5,000 rpm. I can back off the throttle to 1/2 - 3/4 and it'll run ok. Go back into the throttle after a bit and the same thing happens again.

Also..the alarm stays on as soon as you turn on the key without starting. I took it into a Mercury dealer and they couldn't find anything. Any thoughts what the issue may be?

Just looking for a direction.

Thanks.

"Jeff,

You have to determine what is causing the alarm to sound. If none of the sensors seem to be triggering it, then it could be the warning module itself. If you disconnect the sensors one at a time, you might find which one is causing the alarm, but this will not work with the rotation sensor on the oil pump. Disconnecting this will cause the alarm to sound if the engine is running.

This can be a tricky problem to deal with, but it is important to get to the bottom of it. I have seen quite a few engines destroyed because the owners decided that the alarm was simply malfunctioning and ignored it.

Jeff when you had the engine into the dealership they should have hooked up a labtop with CDS software and a set of fuel and air pressure gauges. Then run engine till problem occures and take some freeze frames of the engines read outs while also monitoring fuel and air gauges. When finished compare read outs to factory spec's. This should have determaned the problem. First things first i would contact the dealership and see if they did any of those things.

Thanks guys.

I had it at a Mercury dealership for 1 1/2 weeks and they had the laptop hooked up but they said they couldn't find anything. They did replace the warning module but the problem still exists.

I'm an auto tech and I thought maybe I could take a look at it but I think I'm going to send it to another certified shop and see what they can do. I'll input your comments to see if the next tech can come to a conclusion.

Thanks again.

Jeff
