Not sure exact year of motor. It's on a 23' mako I just acquired.

This is my first out board so please bare with me

first issue is starting... Boat cranks over then seems to trip/cut out the starter. Not sure if this is normal or not. The engine does start I just can't figure out if something is shorting out, or if this is normal. I'm used to being able to crank a motor over as long as I keep the key turned...

next issue, temperature gauge seems to always be at 140. It's at 0 when in off position. Could a faulty ground cause this or could the sending unit be bad?

next problem, when idling the motor both on ear muffs and in the water, barely any water is coming out of The pisser. It starts pissing out under throttle but not constantly even at idle like I hear some other engines do

Next issue, first trip out... Started opening her up, got up on plane and started Taching it up... Engine cuts out then stalls. Then motor runs rough on start up. I also noticed the fuel primer bulb seems to be crushed. Or sucked in. Perhaps I'm having a fuel issue?

there are no audible alarms hooked up so I'm not sure what sort of alarms (hopefully I'll never get any) this motor should give off.

Final question, is it worth getting rid of the oil injection and mixing directly ?
