"I have a 200Hp Merc EFI with about 400 hrs on it.
So far it has run great. However, now on start-up I am getting 4 beeps from the control. In reading my limited manual, it says 4 beeps is either low oil, overheating, or water in the fuel filter. I checked the oil and the external oil container is full as well as the oil container on the engine itself. I removed the fuel filter and put in a new one & reconnected the electrical connection. I have a water pressure gauge on the cooling system. Pressure reads OK and water is shooting out the back of the engine per normal. What else could the 4 beeps be telling me? What else should I check?"

"Harley,

Usually, you can determine which sensor is causing the alarm by disconnecting them one at a time until you find the right one, however this does not work for the rotation sensor on the oil pump. Disconnecting this sensor will cause the alarm to sound, however my opinion is that it is not likely that this sensor is causing the alarm.

If disconnecting the other sensors ( temp, remote tank, engine tank, fuel filter )does not cause the alarm to stop sounding, I would suspect the control module.
