"Sorry, should have said 1989.

"Sorry, should have said 1989. Got my boat/motor models years swapped around. BRP site doesn't seem to be working once I get down the tree to "Ignition..." According to this site it is the CDI 173-4287 which is what I got. But it is a different configuration with both charge coils together at the rear rather than being on opposite sides of the stator. Don't know if this makes any difference to its operation and could be causing a loss of power. The connectors are all correct."

Model # is CE200STLC__ . Last

Model # is CE200STLC__ . Last 2 didgits are worn off. The "C" might be for Canada.

"I do not think the C is for C

"I do not think the C is for CANADA. Did you test the old stator or are you guessing it might be the problem.I have a GT 175 Johnson motor that I bought( cheap ) and it came with a spare stator, timer base and 3 power packs. The real problem was scored cylinders and it proves that you need to test before spending money."

"Didn't see any '89 mo

"Didn't see any '89 model #s on the BRP site starting with a "C". They all began with an "E".

This is why I replaced the previous stator (see photo). There was also 1 point further along the wire where it was arcing through the insulation.

"First letter (model varia

"First letter (model variation), if present before either the "E" - Evinrude, or "J" - Johnson in the OMC model numbers is as follows:

MODEL VARIATION
A Australia
B Belgium
C Canada
H Hong Kong
S South Africa
T Tracker Model
V Boat Builder"

"Just pulled the flywheel. Do

"Just pulled the flywheel. Does the power coil on the new stator look toasted? It is also loose on its core(I can rattle it around). Could have been like that from day 1. Doesn't appear that anything has melted off of it. What would cause this? BTW, I tested it last week and it still shows 96 ohms as per spec.
