20 hp prop shaft seals

Leakage ( oil that was mixed with the gas ) there is fairly common on a 2 stroke motor.---------------Has the gearcase been pressure tested to confirm that seals are actually leaking ???

It's a white milky mixture coming from the prop area and when I pulled the lower drain plug I got water before the gear lube came out.I had replace d the lube before we used the boat for duck season. The lube came out ok and looked good after the water came out.It was leaking last year also, but not as much as now.And no it has not been pressure tested. This is a problem that I might try and do or I may take it to a Mercury dealer for repairs.Haven't decided yet untill I find out more info about repairs

OK that added information means that you have a leak for sure .---------You will need a special tool to turn out the propshaft bearing carrier and that carrier has a " left hand thread"----Dealer will do this for a small fee I think.------------other than that it is nothing special to do this job.

Thank racerone.Do you by chance know what the special tool number is? Either the Merc number and hope to cross referance or the number that used from Partsman(I saw a link to a site named this when I did a yahoo search. It was under marineengine.com also)
