20 hp merc no spark

" hi all, I have a 1987 merc 20 horse with no spark on both cylinders. I have eliminated the kill switch possibility.Can someone tell me how to trouble shoot the power pack before I spend big $ not knowing for sure if this one is bad? "

HI. UNFORTUNATELY THERE ISN'T A TEST FOR THE SWITCH BOX. THERE IS AN OHMS TEST FOR THE TRIGGER AND THE STATOR. IF BOTH OF THESE TESTS ARE OK THEN YOU REPLACE THE SWITCH BOX. I MIGHT HAVE A USED SWITCH BOX FOR YOU. I WOULD NEED THE ENGINE SERIAL # BECAUSE THERE WERE 2 DIFFERENT BOXES USED.....BRIAN

" The trigger tested OK But the stator tested at 2800 ohms and the manual says it should be 31 to 3700 is that close enough? If it is, then i'd like to get that switchbox from ya And maybe a stator if 2800 ohm isn't kosher

YOUR READING OF 2800 IS LOW.

YOUR READING OF 2800 IS LOW. 3100 TO 3700 IS CORRECT. I ASSUME THE OTHER 2 TESTS FOR THE STATOR WERE CORRECT.IF YOU STILL NEED PARTS PLEASE SEND ME YOUR SERIAL #. THANKS......BRIAN
