20 HP Mariner What Year

I am thinking about buying a 2

I am thinking about buying a 20 HP mariner but have no clue what year model it is or if it is 2 stroke or 4 stroke. The Serial Number the guy is giving me is OD193022. Can you tell me the year model off of this information?

It's a 2 stroke and quite possibly the best 20 horse 2 stroke outboard ever built by any mfg.

I have seen these sell for upwards of $1200 in the used market if they have not been run in salt water.

So if I could get my hands on one for $500 that would be a good deal?? Do you know what the oil mixture should be? I am going to look at it tomorrow and wanted to bring fresh gas to do a test run for the motor.
 
$500 would be a steal - 50:1 w

$500 would be a steal - 50:1 with regular unleaded and TCW3 rated marine 2 stroke oil (even the Walmart brand of outboard oil is fine with this model).

I'd give him 500 for it even if it needed a fair bit of work (provided you can do it yourself).
 
Bought the motor and am having

Bought the motor and am having a problem getting it to idle. Does anyone know if there is a free online manual for mariner?

Spend the 35 bucks and get yourself a Seloc's - well worth the money the very first time you use it.

Idle problem - most likely gunk in the carb - that's about the only thing that ever goes wrong with these models...."
