"IT seems the general opinion of my outboard.
( Will not run unless I constantly pump the primer ball.(( new tanks, hoses, different fuel pumps etc etc.)) Is that the compression is low and there for won't run the pump. Will as simple compression test identify this? If it is crank seals or something is there anyway to indentify them specifically?

Thanks"

"I assume that the fuel pump is the type that has a hole in the back of it where pressure from the crankcase enters and causes the pump to function.

If so, did you install that rather thick gasket between the pump and the powerhead? Without it, the pump cannot function."

"Yes, the gasket is installed.

"Yes, the gasket is installed. I have also trie three different pumped known good. The bigger one ( correct size) and the smaller one ( 9.9 to 15 hp) as well. The pump is the one with the hole in the back. Will a compression test identify bad seals ? Or could this be more serious. I will consider putting new seals but I want to clearly identify the problem before I start throwing even more parts at it.
Thanks"
