"I've had excellent results with the Pennzoil 100% Synthetic from Walmart for about $27/gallon,with Yamaha Ringfree, a good fuel Stabilizer, a fuel/water seperator, and you're set to go. You'll get your money back in maintenance/repair costs."

"i have seen very bad things happen to hpdi's with penzoil. go with yamalube, why risk a perfectly good engine by savin a buck on oil?"

The Pennzoil 100% Synthetic at

The Pennzoil 100% Synthetic at $27/gallon is not a cheap/bargain type product. The Yamalube is probably fine but my experience with the 100% Synthetic has been excellent with no engine problems at all since 1999 when I bought it new. There are plenty of discussions and opinions on oils and lubricants. My son runs some kind of super cheap store brand in his 40 Yamaha with no problems at all. Thinks I'm crazy to spend $27 for a gallon of oil...Go figure Good Luck!

"not trying to start an argume

"not trying to start an argument, all i am saying is that hpdi's are a very touchy motor to start. and every reputable tech i have talked to says stay away from penzoil but that is just my opinion."

"I used Yamalube in my 90C for years before changing to 100% synthetic Pennzoil with no problems from either. I believe the Ringfree, fuel stabilizers and fuel/water separator are great investments in performance and reliability especially for a sophisticated engine like a hpdi. My wife and I are headed down the St.Johns river next week for about a 6 day run and where we go I really can't afford any motor problems, so I'm pretty conscientious about my motor. So far, so good. Good Luck with your new 175 hpdi"

"Like I said, several different opinions on oils/lubricants, but I'm confident that the Ringfree, fuel stabilizers and fuel/water separators, plus good overall preventive maintenance will usually provide excellent performance, regardless of oil. Good luck!"
