2 stroke 75hp hard starting

I have a year 2000 75 hp mercury 2 stroke that doesn't want to start unless the priming bulb is being pumped at the same time as the engine is being turned over. once it starts it runs like it should and doesn't seam to have any issues. because i have to pump the bulb as the motor is tuning over i feel like it is the fuel pump that is the issue but i would like some extra input. I am also new to boat engines so i have a few questions about the priming bulb as well. should it stay hard while the engine is running and should it stay full of fuel after the motor is shut off? thank you for your replies.

The enrichener circuit gets its fuel charge from pressure in the line--no pressure, no flow of gas to start it.

I suggest you try another bulb; the check valve in yours might be leaking back to tank.

Are you pushing the key in while cranking it over ?----------Primer bulbs do not stay hard once the motor is running and they do not need to be hard.

I have replaced the priming bulb and it had made no difference also chocking the engine (pushing key in) doesn't make a difference.

Okay. You need to remove the hose that goes from the enrichener valve to the carb, then have someone hit the choke and see if gas gushes out. (Careful!)

Has nothing to do with the fuel pump. The pressure the enrichener needs to operate comes from priming the motor with the bulb.
