"Okay, tired to drop lower uni

"Okay, tired to drop lower unit to replace water pump. First..stainless prop obviously has not been removed for awhile...rust on the drive shatft..cleaned what I could..not bad..but rust between prop and drive shaft..unable to remove prop after using piece of wood and hammer to break loose...Any ideas? Second...tired to drop lower unit to replace water pump..seems free at drive shaft top but shift shaft will not release..missing in my shop manual...it appears there is a bracket in front of the power head at the bottom which appears to be linked to the shift shaft...is this where I release the shift shaft to be able to drop the lower unit? Any help is greatly appreciated.

It was there in front of me and just didn't study well enough and think it out. The breakdown is just like my manual. The shift rod connection is just what I thought just in front of the powerhead underneath....the shift rod connection bracket. Will undo and see if it will come out. I will leave the prop on since I can't get it off and soak it with penetrating oil..I will resort to heat if all else fails. Thanks for keeping on me to think. Keep you posted for next step.

Ever tried something called Aero Kroil? We call it "Magic in a Can" where I work. Lots better than WD40. Probably make that prop "jump" off!

Got the lower unit off after disconnecting the shift linkage where the manual said it was..oh boy..of all the things I have lost in life so far..I miss my mind the most! Where can I get Aero Kroil? Never seen it or heard of it before? Don't know if you all ever heard of ebasicpower.com but it's a great parts company..out of NC. Water pump kit and housing was $39 they were going to charge me $80 locally plus tax. Had a pitted and rusty drive shaft from the drive shaft o seal down to the pump...emery clothed the shaft looks good enough..anything I can put on it when I reassemble to keep it from getting crappy again, it goes through the exhast housing? Thanks guys. By the way..I have a HS grad that wants to go to marine tech school..any suggestions? Keep you posted.
