Hello, I have a 2003 Yamaha 115, which for a variety of problems, has not been run in about 8 months. I had to replace the upper anode a few months ago and things worked for a few minutes before I noticed the water wasn't "peeing" as strongly as it was when I first started it. I think I've found the problem: the tube leading out of the cowl seems to have had a plastic attachment at the end, and it was broken (I think). I cleared it out, and it is running as I speak. Before I take it out, though, I want to replace the broken part.
First question: I don't know the name of the broken part, and I can't find it on the diagrams. Can anyone tell me what it might be called, or know the part number?
Second question: While idling, I walked around the aft to see that everything look like it was working and I noticed the prop was turning very slowly. I put the motor in gear for a second (I was still on the lift) and it moved forward, but back in neutral the prop still turned. When I put it reverse for a second, again it moved, and back in neutral the prop still turned. It was not enough to move me anywhere, but I've never noticed this behavior before. Is this a new problem for me, or does this just happen sometimes and should not cause concern? Thanks for any answers.

On most motors the prop will turn in neutral.----Without explaining it in detail , it has to do with the different bearings on forward / neutral gears.

The part you seek is known by Yamaha as a hose nipple. Shown in the 115TXRB parts catalog under the diagram labeled as "Bottom Cowling". Item number 9.

Any time the motor is running the gears within the lower unit are turning. The turning of those gears causes the gear fluid to turn. That fluid, being viscous, has friction which causes the propeller shaft to turn. Completely normal although gear cases do it and some do not.
