Anyone have a 2008 Mfg. Repair Manual with recommendations, name of specific parts, and photos?

Problem 1: Throttle sticks at speed from high to low such that changing the gear is not possible. Have to remove the cover and assist by pushing the "Neutral Slide" rearward.
Problem 2: Thottle sticks at idle and will not advance from slow to high speed. Have to remove the cover and assist throttle by pushing the "Neutral Slide" forward.


All throttle parts independently slide/spin freely. When parts are together, there is a "hickup" at the notch of the rotating cam such that spinning the tiller handle (throttle) becomes impossible.

Does the cable work (slide) freely when not connected?

Both cables work freely. The sliding pieces (pictured) "stick" and no matter how much torque you place on the throttle.

Was this working correctly and just stopped or was something done, then it stopped working properly?

Hmmmmmmm..........good question. I suspect it was a function of the owner losing the motor overboard one duck hunting morning. Long story short, motor retrieved still running, no water injested into engine. Taken to Yamaha Dealer immediately. His guy greased right over the sand and grit that caked the inside of the engine. Motor owner didn't notice until the throttle started sticking at the beginning of the next season and a whole lot of months after the duck season when the motor was put away. I know this first hand. I was THERE, a little ways away in my own boat, when this whole mess started. In part, the greased grit is why I suspect galled plastic parts.
